Education
Dr Raines has over 35 years of experience in the veterinary field. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988, and her Master’s Degree in Veterinary Forensics from The University of Florida in 2016.
Professional Experience
Dr. Raines has had a diverse career in veterinary medicine. From ratites to pocket pets, psittacines and reptiles, she has seen them all over the years! Dr Raines is an Advocate for spay/neuter and reducing the overpopulation of pets.
Special Interests
Dr. Raines’ focus is on the wellbeing of pets and the people who care for them. She is actively involved in small animal practice, where her special interest is soft tissue surgery, Dr Raines also has a passion for lifelong learning, teaching, and mentoring new paraprofessionals and veterinarians. She joined Western University College of Veterinary Medicine as an associate professor in 2004, where she facilitated in the problem based learning curriculum, taught wellness and surgery courses as well as served on various committees. She has been involved in clinical research and collaboration with other researchers throughout the years.Dr Raines continues to assist law enforcement and District Attorneys in the investigation and prosecution of animal abuse cases in California and other states.
